Almost five hundred students from five years of age fromcolleges and primary schools throughout the Alhaurin de la Torre already have first-hand knowledge of the ambitious campaign to encourage savings on household consumption of water from the Empresa Municipal de Agua and Saneamiento Aqualauro. The councillor Carmen Doblas, alongside the manager of the institution, Juan Manuel Barnestein talked about this initiative, which has been very well received in all schools and in the coming months will be extended to other social and other age groups including at the: Centro de Educación de Adultos, Hogar del Jubilado, Centro de Formación Jabalcuza, Centro de Discapacitados…
The campaign so far has been directed at children, whose response has been "excellent and, at times, surprising," says the Edil. Indeed, many of the children, seemed to know what needs to been done to avoid wasting water, "said the councillor.
After thanking the schools and Aqualauro for their work, Doblas stressed he has received the enthusiastic collaboration of other local offices. Specifically, the Office of Environment who have cooperated in drafting some texts, while the Department of Municipal TV has decided to cast Torrevisión film Aquarina in a , six-minute, prime time TV spot daily at 20.30 hours on Torrevisión. Also, it is planned to include the DVD on the municipal website www.aytoalhaurindelatorre.es soon.
Messages like "Water is life, you do not squander it", "Water is not an inexhaustible resource" or "Without water there is no life, use it carefully," constitutes the mainstay of this campaign, designed to be simple and easily understood by all audiences. In the past, Aqualauro gave lectures in schools, "but were they were too dry for small audience, hence we opted for a more ambitious format", stressed Doblas.
The design and production of the DVD is a by a José Manuel Alba, while for coming months who is already studying the feasibility of developing a pet Aquarina to appear at events like the Cabalgata de Reyes o el Carnaval
