Alhaurín de la Torre present in the climate change conference in San Sebastian
Utilization of biodiesel in official vehicles and public transport empowerment are the two topics that will be exhibited at the exhibition
July 22, 2008 .-
Alhaurín de la Torre is present at the Climate Change Conference being held during these days in San Sebastian, organized by the Spanish Network of Cities for Climate-which belongs to this municipality - and the FEMP, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Environment and Rural Affairs and the Marine and which will be announced various experiences being developed in Spanish and European municipalities to achieve a model of sustainable mobility in towns and cities.
Specifically on this issue, the delegation of the environment has contributed two works to be exhibited in this exhibition, the use of biodiesel in municipal vehicles and the introduction of city bus lines.
Regarding the first case, it is an experience that has been carried out since early this year of using biocombustibles in municipal vehicles and it has been the municipal water company Aqualauro the first that will soon implemented this rule They will be in use also in other official vehicles used in official waste collection, construction and services or cleaning. The purpose is to avoid dependence on fossil fuels and seek awareness of environmental impact by reducing the gases emitted into the atmosphere by the exhaust pipes. For this, there have been set prices and conditions with the supplier.
The other attribute present at the exhibition is made by the delegation of Traffic and Mobility and is the empowerment of lines of collective inter-city transport that has increased substantially by up to 8 lines and this is promoted by the town hall, setting routes from virtually all the townships and the capital with the city centre, as well as specific lines at specific times, such as the University (aimed at students), the beach or Plaza Mayor on weekends and slowly yielding the desired results of more use of public transport at the expense of passenger cars and therefore less emission of gases into the atmosphere.
