A didactic 'Ecobús' teaches recycling and its advantages to Secondary pupils.
The Classroom of the Mar de Benalmádena and the Consortium of Residuos de Diputación visited the IES Huerta Alta. The initiative had an excellent response.
Dozens of students from first grade of secondary Huerta Alta Institute of Alhaurín de la Torre took part this week in an exciting day of learning technologies, advantages and meaning of the recycling of solid urban residues (RSU), which arrived in the form of a curious' Ecobús' come Information Centre roaming across the province. The initiative, funded by the Consortium Provincial USW of the County Council of Malaga and company Ecoembes, in collaboration with the Classroom del Mar of Benalmadena and coordinated by the SOPDE (entity linked to the county council) has been put at the service of that education centre by the Department of Environment, who heads Marina Bravo, who was enthusiastic about the idea.
The so-called 'Ecobús' a former coach whose conversion into an online screening room and interpretation centre has been carried out with recyclable materials gathered during an entire morning by different groups of students and their teachers, teaching different lessons on how to separate the garbage at home, bring them to their proper containers and contribute to the process of recycling to save energy, limit pollution and give a second life to material: glass, paper, paperboard, packaging, bricks, cans…
This civil campaign on recycling, in school format, tries " to increase the commitment of what we call ' responsible consumers ', and this age seems to us to be suitable to begin to sensitize the population, since the children absorb everything and they transmit it to their parents, who will be able to acquire this practice ".
In groups of 15 pupils and classes of an hour of duration, the persons in charge of the Classroom del Mar gave a talk supported by 8 informative panels of easy reading and comprehension and several TV's monitors and screens where projections were seen on the process of recycling of the RSU. The pupils proved to be very participative at all time.
As a culmination of this campaign, the school may work in groups on this matter, whose winners will get prizes important for the entire class.
