Another two gold medals for gymnasts in the ‘Gibraltar Cup 2008’
Paula Garcia and Yazmina Peula added further success to the Gymnasts of Alhaurin de la Torre
The achievements of our Gymnasts continues to grow. Again, two members of the Club Aldetor, Paula Garcia and Yazmina Peula won two gold medals at the I Torneo Internacional ‘Gibraltar Cup 2008’ held on last weekend in Cologne organised by the Gibraltar Rhyhmic Gymnastics Association. 67 gymnasts took part in this competition with 15 gymnastic clubs England, Scotland, Wales, Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar taking part in the various individual categories.
The Club Aldetor attended this event with all their heavy artillery, as this was the highest level of international competition witnessed since its inception.
During the day on Saturday, Alhaurin de la Torre was represented by the gymnasts Naomi Navas (5th place), Carmen Castro (8th place) and Claudia Sam (11th place), there was a lot of competition, but clear progression was showed.
The triumph of Paula Garcia took place on Sunday. She was awarded first place for a splendid exercise. Paula scored by 9.06 points, ahead of the Portuguese Club representative Portimao, with 8.85 and the representative of the Club Grenada, with 6.93.
Later, in the category Yazmina Peula made a superb and spectacular assembly, recognized by all the judges. She held on to top spot despite the high level of this category and after four of their opponents overtook her score Yazmina implemented a practice of a higher technical quality, gaining 11.35 points.
On May 24th in the morning the I Torneo Club Aldetor will be held. The best clubs of the Comunidad Andaluza have been invited including a large number of gymnasts, some of whom have managed to be champions of Spain.
