Aqualauro enables a new well to irrigate gardens with superficial waters
The facility, located in La Calera, will be operational before the summer. The vehicle fleet of the municipal company uses biodiesel fuel
The municipal Water and Sanitation company , Aqualauro, subordinate to the department for Waters directed by Carmen Doblas, is currently working on the drilling of a well in the area of La Calera, which will build upon the superficial flows for irrigation of public parks and gardens . The boring , which was conducted a few days ago, has a diameter of a metre and a half, with a depth of 15 metres and carries an instalation with concrete pipe. This use of surface flow in part of a comprehensive campaign to encourage savings in the consumption of drinking water, a priority objective of this autonomous Local Agency since its creation in 2005, so that the maximum number of municipal parks can be watered with water unfit for human consumption.
This new well of La Calera, located in the forecourt of parking spaces in front of Opencor, in the area of Arroyo del Gato, joins facilities already operating in other parts of the town, as The Chaplaincy and Los Springs; this last one is designed to irrigate all of the urban gardens and the football stadium.
The capacity of La Calera is not yet in service, since only the pipe has been mounted and continues under construction, pending the mounting of the engine and provision of its equipment. Aqualauro estimated that it will be operational by the summer, once completed the works of urbanization of the sector by the development company, also responsible for the financing of this project, which will be free of charge to the municipal coffers.
In the coming months, the Water and Sanitation company will extend this campaign of using surface water for irrigation to other strategic points of the town and its neighborhoods, which are already planned.
VEHICLES WITH BIODIÉSEL
Moreover, since January 1, the entire fleet of Aqualauro (with the exception of car and motorcycle) uses the new biodiesel fuel, thereby contributing to reduce CO2 emissions, as part of its campaign of respect for the environment. This type of oil is only available today in the service station Meroil, Avenue of the Americas (between the two industrial estates). Five vans, two trucks and a digger are vehicles which are currently included in this experimental campain.
